Does CBD Oil Help With Anxiety?
CBD or cannabidiol is a powerful compound that is extracted from the versatile hemp plant to create a variety of health products. CBD is first documented to have been prescribed for medicinal purposes in 2737 BC in China. The compound is known to aid in the treatment of over one hundred different medical conditions. One such condition it has been known treat is anxiety.
What is anxiety?
Anxiety is a feeling which the majority of human beings grapple with on a daily basis. The rat race nature of our lives often brings about a significant amount of stress, worry and fear. These feelings combine to cause us anxiety, which can lead to dreadful effects if left untreated. Symptoms of anxiety include obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic attacks and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Traditionally, these symptoms were treated by means of counselling, antidepressants and other pharmaceutical products. Many still spend thousands of pound every month to treat their anxiety with laboratory-made products. Whilst the levels of anxiety are only increasing, one questions how effective these methods are. That being said, the issue of anxiety still remains and it is not going anywhere anytime soon. If counselling and pharmaceuticals are not eradicating anxiety, then what is? What about the versatile CBD compound? Does CBD oil help with anxiety?
Before we look at the scientific facts, I can give you a first-hand account of the benefits of CBD oil. When my father passed away, I was only 14 years old. The stress, depression and the uncertainty of finances led me to suffer panic attacks regularly and endure post-traumatic stress disorder. This is not how a teenager should be operating, so my mother who is a naturalist sought the help of a traditional healer who prescribed me CBD oil. I was told to only consume a drop whenever I felt anxiety coming on, and it worked wonders. No longer feeling like I was hopeless, CBD oil helped me to cope. Whilst I no longer suffer from the anxiety I once did, I still keep the oil nearby just in case, I need to calm myself.
The reason CBD worked for me, is because of the calming effect it had on my body. It would relax my mind and body, whilst giving me time to pull myself together. If you suffer from anxiety there is no need to be paying someone thousands each month to tell you what you already know. Grab some oil and get on with your life.
How does CBD oil treat Anxiety?
Cannabinoid receptors are found throughout our body. CBD oil impacts your bodies endocannabinoid system, which produces organic cannabinoids like Anandamide. Anandamide impacts your cannabinoid 1 and 2 receptors which are known for helping to alleviate anxiety. Whilst dosage quantities will differ from person to person, the most common method for inducing CBD oil is by squeezing a drop or two under your tongue, and waiting for 30-60 seconds before swallowing. Some people may prefer to use edibles, but from my own experience CBD oil is the best option. The reason for this is that the concentration of pure cannabidiol is more effective in oil
Long Term Studies
Doctors have of course expressed scepticism over healing powers of CBD, due to a lack of long terms studies. The only reason for this is due to the hemp plant being illegalised throughout the world for the past century. That being said, whilst scientists have only been conducting studies on the health benefits of the compound for the past few years it has been prescribed for over 4000 years now. That is for a longer period of time than modern medicine has been around. Modern medicine only rose to prominence after the Industrial revolution, and we now heavily rely on it to keep us healthy.
Studies on Public Speakers
Now, speaking in front of a crowd is enough to send your anxiety levels through the roof. In 2019 the Brazilian journal of psychiatry published the results of a study conducted into the anxiety levels of public speakers. The speakers were given a range of dosages from 150 to 600 milligrams of CBD. It was found that 300 milligrams were a sufficient dose to alleviate any anxiety before speaking.
If we can trust the practice of medicine which is only three hundred years old, then we can absolutely embrace CBD as a treatment. Whilst scientists may not have had the time to reach conclusive results in their studies, I can vouch from my own experience that CBD oil helps with anxiety.
